Postpartum depression is often attributed to hormonal changes beyond our control.
Yet, that’s not necessarily the whole picture.
Because we don’t appreciate how self-centered we are,
and that there’s no reason to be ashamed of being so human.
The reality is that we spend our lives doing pretty much what we want.
And then suddenly, we can’t.
Because this wondrous being we’ve created needs us,
and will need us for years to come.
And that can be more than a bit overwhelming.
Yet, with patient and understanding therapy we can open our minds to the often endless needs of our dependent infants.
And give them the unreserved love that leads to a fruitful, independent and related life.
